3 Ways Meditation Boosts Confidence

“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profundity. Kindness in giving creates love.” Lao Tzu

Confidence is intrinsically related to believing that you have the ability to do something well. In other words, self-awareness and knowing yourself will support you in developing self-assurance and also building relationships based on confidence. Let’s take a look at how mindfulness and meditation help us enjoy life with confidence.

Becoming self-aware

“Know yourself to improve yourself.” Auguste Comte

Confidence is built through action and thought. Being able to cultivate a positive, empowering inner speech will support you in equanimously assessing who you are with both strengths and aspects that need improving. The practice of mindfulness and meditation helps you raise your awareness and capacity to neutrally observe and discern, so as to distance yourself from building your self-image based on external praises. Being able to value your inner power and congratulate yourself and others for achievements leads to a boost in self-confidence.

Letting go of comparison

“Comparison is the death of joy.” Mark Twain

Sometimes, we tend to state our value by comparing ourselves to people around us. Each of us is a beautiful uniqueness that encapsulates a rich and powerful potential. Being able to treasure who we are and our talents is a strong basis to develop confidence that we can better ourselves and evolve even further. Acknowledging that we each are valuable through who we are and what we consciously choose to plant into the world as our deeds is the first step in having confidence.

Comparison, if done properly, could also support us to realise and be grateful for who and where we are now in our lives. If we are to take a look at who we were five years ago and how much we grew and expanded, we can congratulate ourselves and be confident that we have all the things needed to achieve all our goals. But spending time thinking about who we are or are not compared to others, take a lot of space from our joy. This space, can be better used to harvest confidence and gratitude.

Being confident in having confidence

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” Theodore Roosevelt

This one goes to all of us who have, at different moments of our lives, surrounded ourselves with “what ifs…” If we look at a situation having a 100% potential of success, then being confident it will should weight for half, 50%, and not being confident, for the other half, right? Now, it’s a 50 to 50 situation and the choice lays in your hands.

Choosing to have confidence that everything will work for the best sets a precedent and creates the belief that you can actually do it. Being confident is a locomotive of stepping into action and once that small step is taken, chances are you’ll succeed, one little step at a time. It’s that simple. confidence builds on confidence.

What about you, how has your process on confidence-lane been?
